Fruit And Vegetable Storage Advice

What’s the best way to store my produce?
Vegetables: Hard vegetables ie pumpkin, potato, onions are all best stored in cool dark airy cupboards. All other vegetables including leafy greens are best stored in plastic bags in the vegetable section of your fridge. Vegetables will go limp rather quickly if left uncovered in the vegetable crisper. Mushrooms should of course be kept in a brown paper bag. Tomatoes are best stored out of the fridge unless they are ripe and the weather is hot.
Herbs should be wrapped in damp newspaper or plastic bags.
Fruit: either in the fruit bowl or in the fridge. This will depend on the climate and your preference for chilled or room temperature fruit.

How do I ripen fruit?
Find a light airy dry warm place (usually the kitchen bench) and any fruit or vegetable will ripen in a few days. Try and avoid direct sun. To ripen green bananas, keep in a bag with apples, pears or kiwi fruit as natural ethylene helps the ripening process.

What’s in season? ie: why can’t I get strawberries in winter?
One of the best qualities about buying organic is only being able to buy what’s in season. The flavour and taste is better, not to mention it’s cheaper on the hip pocket. There is something special about biting into a new season apple or the smell of mangoes in early summer.
We have been so use to having all varieties of all fruit and vege available year around we have lost our way of buying seasonal produce when it’s at it’s best!
For what’s in season please consult our seasonality guide

Technical

How safe is it to send credit card details via the Internet?
The use of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) software for the registration page encrypts your credit card number and registration details and then securely transmits them over the Internet. When you enter this secure part of our site you will see a padlock symbol on the lower toolbar on your browser screen to let you know the information is safe.

I cannot access the Registration Form.
Either your browser does not support SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) or the SSL feature is turned off. If you are unable to activate SSL on your browser you can register using our Manual Registration Form. You can either phone or fax your registration details directly to Dynamic Organic office. Call 02/9905 5553

I receive an "authentication certificate" error.
The SSL keys in the older web browsers such as IE 4.0 and Netscape 4.0 have expired. The easiest way to overcome this is to just update the browser to a higher version or upgrade the SSL component of your web browser.

How does the call back option on the Registration form work?
If, despite the encryption software, you do not wish to send your credit card details over the Internet, just select either of the home, work or mobile buttons and a representative from Dynamic Organics will ring you back to collect your details.

Is there an alternative to filling out the electronic forms?
Yes. You can print the order form, fill it out by pen and fax it to Dynamic Organics. If all else fails you can ring Dynamic Organics and place your order over the phone.

Still can't find an answer?
