The taste of an organic tomato planted the seed for Dynamic Organics.
Dynamic Organics began as a passionate hobby for Roger Sternhell.
With an honours degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Sydney he focused on agriculture and began his career in broad acre cereal crops in Western Australia. However, after 5 years, he became disheartened with the agricultural chemical industry as they were continually offering chemicals that kept farmers busy trying to win the battle against nature rather than working with the natural balance of the environment.
A trip around the world was short lived when in Los Angeles he brought a tomato from a small organic food store and couldn’t get over how the taste reminded him of the tomatoes he ate as a kid. Roger had always been passionate about fresh, quality produce and substainable farming, and the inspiration for Dynamic Organics was planted.
To gain an insight and workings of the growing organics market, Roger stayed on in LA to work for the organic food store and on his return to Australia at Russells Health Food Shops who had just started selling organic produce.
Realising that the organic market was untapped in Sydney, Roger thought he would ‘test the waters’ by running a small operation from his garage which also complimented his lifestyle of a stay at home dad for his two daughters.
Roger’s philosophy was to deliver the freshest produce and this meant that handling and storage was very important. In 1997 Dynamic Organics was launched as a home delivery service so only the freshest seasonal produce was delivered to his customers.
The business grew organically by word of mouth very rapidly. As customers began to ask for more organic produce, he outgrew the home garage and leased larger and larger premises until Dynamic Organic’s current premises at Brookvale.
What started as a hobby become one of the leading organic fruit and vegetables home delivery companies in Sydney.
In 2008 Dynamic Organics was sold to Gourmet Dinner Service, a gourmet meal home delivery service. There was not as much synergy betweek GDS and DO as was at first thought and so in July 2009 DynamicOrganics was bought by Cockle Creek Pty Ltd. Roger currently acts as an ad hoc consultant to Cockle Creek Pty Ltd.
